Take 3 minutes to read how did we boosted our website page views by over 260% in what is traditionally the quietest month of the year.

A gift from Wish

We all know the feeling, it’s that time of year where people start to slow down for Christmas and attention drifts to thinking about spending time with friends and family and not necessarily the upcoming start of the new year.

But for Wish, we saw an opportunity. An opportunity to send a little thank you note to our great clients and an opportunity to introduce ourselves to some fantastic new contacts.

And to truly engage with our selected audience we chose a multi-platform Christmas promotion to see some real results.

And this is how we did it

Christmas comes around once a year and it’s the perfect chance to re-engage with people and give a little something back. So we did, we picked a varied list of brilliant gifts and planned out our prize draw. We designed our very own Christmas card, but Santa was missing and we needed you to find him.

He was hiding on both the Wish Agency and Wish Digital website and to enter it was a case of simply heading over to our websites and looking through our pages to find him (with a little help along the way from his elves).

So, what happened?

Alongside our Christmas cards, we sent out social media posts and an e-shot which had fantastic feedback. In total, we had 86 entrants to the competition, a fantastic result in itself but we also saw a huge increase in website traffic in what is traditionally a quiet time of year.

Over our two websites, Wish Agency and Wish Digital, we had over 1,500 total unique visitors between 11th and 22nd December, an increase of 66% from the previous 11 days. Brilliant in itself, but then we look at how many pages were viewed. 5,894 individual pages were viewed over those 11 days which was an increase of 260% compared to the same period last year.

This increase in page views was down to how we structured the competition. Asking entrants to search the website and find Santa meant people had to visit numerous pages. So not only have we engaged with contacts new and old, we’ve been able to show them more of the fantastic work we’ve done.
